Born in Croydon, London to Irish parents Jackie Edwards is now based in Rosslare Harbour, Co Wexford, Ireland. She has been painting since childhood and attended Dun Laoghaire School of Art and Design and has held and taken part in thirty exhibitions to date both group and solo.

Although she paints in a wide range of subjects, the main body of her work focuses on figurative and portraiture pieces, often using strong imagery with oil and egg tempera as her main medium.

Her paintings are realistic, they very often tell a story and show the essence of the subject.

The use of oil and egg tempera lends itself to a technique called the “Mische Technique” Egg tempera was the standard medium of European panel painting up to the fifteenth century. The process uses layers of thin oil glazes which transcend light through the opaque crosshatching of the tempera resulting in an illuminating quality to the finished piece. It is a classical method of painting that Jackie continuously strives to improve on.

Kevin has been working tirelessly since his very successful first exhibition, since then his work has been procured by the OPW for the state collection and has been a hit North of our country, Kevin is now preparing for another exhibition ( dates to follow ) so in anticipation to that second showing we have three new oils to show off.

We are delighted to welcome the genius that is Conor Walton, I hope he will not mind me thanking him for his warm hospitality,sitting in his kitchen listening to his amazing Son who was giving me a lesson in Egyptology,yes,Egyptology,well in fairness he should have a pretty good grasp of it as he is 6 and half, yup embarrassing as it may sound I was being versed by a guy a little under 7, well the afternoon progressed drinking coffee and eating homemade biscuits, finally we got down to business in hand and for me that was to see his work, to say I was in awe is an understatement, the body of work in his studio was mesmerising, landscapes,still life and portraits. Hiding on the ground was the portrait I was very familiar with, a perfect likeness to Jim Sreenan, my ex Battalion Commander, you will see the perfection of Conor portraits on his website and I would not be surprised if Commisions come flying in…. we are looking forward to working closely with Conor and invite everyone into the Gallery in the coming weeks to see his work.
