Hazel Revington Cross

Hazel is a self taught artist, living in Co. Westmeath in Ireland.

She began to paint in 2007 and held her first solo exhibition entitled ‘This Dance called life’ in 2009 in Mullingar. This exhibition was heavily influenced by her time spent working as a volunteer in the townships in South Africa. She began to use oils for the first time, applying liberal amounts of colour with a knife to the canvas, creating an almost 3D effect as she recreated her memories of the shanty towns. It was one of these ‘Township paintings’ that was selected for publishing in ‘International Contemporary Masters Vol. IV’ in 2011.

Hazel paints from emotion and her influences are the people she meets each day, the stories and conversations they share which touch her life and leave a mark on her soul.

Since launching her work in 2009, her art has found it’s way into many private collections here in Ireland, around Europe and as far as Antigua and South Africa.

Hazel is currently working on a new series of paintings. It begs belief that an artist can mature so quickly in less than a year. Hazel’s work has recieved praise from some of Ireland’s top artists such as the very talented and well respected Liam O’Neill from An Daingean.
